Hi All,
This blog is to introduce you all to Bengalooru, my Hometown, where I am born and brought up.
I remember, Bengalooru in my childhood days, which was free enough for us to play on the roads. We used to play so many outdoor games such as 'Jootata', 'Eyes spies', Cricket, Badminton, Lagori, Choochendu, Buguri, Goli etc... Not to forget 'Chinni Daandu'. awesome were those days, when we used to run freely on the road.
Roads were free, City was green, Air was also free and Minds were calm... Hearts were blissful.
Bangalore was found by Kempegowda about 450+ years ago. The story goes like this:
The story goes that one day he went westward from Yelahanka with his Minister Veeranna and Advisor Gidde Gowda in search of game and arrived near a village called Shivasamudra (near Hesaraghatta) some 10 miles (16 Km) from Yelahanka. While relaxing under a tree he conceived the idea of building a suitable city which would be his future capital. The city he planned was to have a fort, a cantonment, tanks (water reservoirs), temples and people of all trades and professions to live in it. He got the necessary Imperial permission of the Vijayanagar Emperor, Achyutharaya (Dasarahalli record dated 1532) and built the Bangalore fort and the town in 1537 A D. His capital was then transferred from Yelahanka to the new Bangalore.
On the site of the present Kodigehalli village towards the North-inward side of Hebbal tank, there was a small hamlet called "Hale Benga-looru" from where his mother and his wife hailed, Therefore he gave the name Bengalooru, to the new town.
He had built 4 corners for the city... 1 in Basavanagudi, one in Market etc...
Bangalore is the capital city of Karnataka state.
In today's Bangalore, we find lot of traditions, religions and professions. But, it has transformed itself into a busy city bustling all through the day - 24X7X365.....
Unfortunately, theft, crime and tensions have increased and the Crime rate has gone up...
However, good things are also happening like... cultural programmes, good Transport facility compared to yesteryears where we used to wait for hours together to get a bus!!!
Further, Bangalore has become a 'Gold Mine' for any one who wishes to work hard and diligently!!!
That's 'Namma Bengalooru'
Keep waiting for next episodes!!!!!
